About Us
Our journey began in 1994 working the vineyards of a farm in Germany, where a deep fascination with the intricacies of alcohol production took root. Despite pursuing studies unrelated to this field upon returning home, the allure of spirits remained a latent passion. It wasn’t until the 2020 lockdown that this passion resurfaced, spurred by a casual jest among friends that evolved into a concerted endeavor of planning, research, and development.
With the acquisition of our first still, Mooiwater Distillery was founded, bearing the name inspired by the pristine quality of our tested groundwater—a precious commodity in the arid landscapes of the Free State. Blending this pure water with unwavering passion became our hallmark.
Every aspect of our process, from fermentation to distillation, is meticulously designed to elevate the finest ingredients into a product that transcends mere composition. Operating in small batches, our pot-stilled spirits are imbued with a distinct taste sensation, reflecting our unwavering commitment to precision and detail.
